The theme of this collaboration project is "Smile."
The collaboration products use "BANANA CLOTH," a material made from discarded banana stems, and a portion of the sales will be donated to food banks.
The project theme was "I want to make the world a ___ world," and the message that if we continue living our lives without doing anything, "the world will become a ___ world," and this time, we asked two former Keyakizaka members from "Smile" to design T-shirts.
Through the thoughts put into the design and the use of "BANANA CLOTH" fabric, we have created a highly designed product that can be worn stylishly while also sending out a message about the SDGs and a sustainable future.
This project proposes a new way of contributing to society that goes beyond being a simple fashion item, and will serve as an opportunity for each individual to take a step towards building a sustainable future.
Through this project, we aim to focus on social issues and help create a better future.

Collaborators Interview

Interview with Miyu Suzumoto

What kind of thoughts did you put into the design you drew?

This time the theme was smile, so I focused on the mouth when smiling in my design.
The illustrations depict moments that make people happy, such as when they are eating, when they are basking in the sun, when they feel loved, etc.
The English sentence below means "Small moments of happiness are spreading in our daily lives."
I drew this T-shirt imagining the smiling moments that will be shared with everyone who wears it.

・Recommended design points for everyone

Each character has their own personality, so I hope you will pay close attention to each one.

・How do you feel about this project [MakesYouSmile]?
※We will make the world a smile place through our activities by making T-shirts using upcycled fabric and banana cloth, and donate a portion of the sales to food banks.

I've always been very interested in the SDGs, so when I heard about this project, I knew I wanted to participate!
It is said that making clothes is not good for the environment, but I found the idea of making clothes using waste that would otherwise be thrown away very appealing.
I was also attracted to the unique fact that the fabric is made from banana stems.

・Please tell us about any SDGs or sustainable practices that you are aware of or implement on a daily basis.

- Carry my own bottle and eco bag - Use things for a long time - Think carefully before buying things - Don't throw away clothes you no longer wear, give them away Finally, it may seem obvious, but I turn off the lights in rooms that I don't use and am careful not to use too much water.

・Recommended outfits

Pair it with denim for a casual look!
We also recommend the combination of black and beige.

Interview with Shiori Sato

What kind of thoughts did you put into the design you drew?

Although living freely and smiling may seem easy, I think there are times when it can be surprisingly difficult.
I intentionally made the design playful and hand-drawn, with the hope that when wearing this clothing, the wearer will be able to smile freely.

・Recommended design points for everyone

Everything was hand-drawn!
I think back every day to when I was little and would draw freely with a smile on my face, so I drew some things I like by hand while remembering the days when I was laughing and playing innocently!

・How do you feel about this project [MakesYouSmile※]?
※We will make the world a smile place through our activities by making T-shirts using upcycled fabric and banana cloth, and donate a portion of the sales to food banks.

I too try to be conscious of food waste every day.
Every day I think about how we can eliminate waste, and I pray for a world where there are no more poor people, so that everyone can eat delicious food and live happily.
I think this project will be able to convey that sentiment, even just a little.

・Please tell us about any SDGs or sustainable practices that you are aware of or implement on a daily basis.

I try to use my own cutlery as much as possible and avoid receiving or ordering it from outside.
Vegetable skins also contain a lot of nutrients, so it's a two-for-one deal! I even use the skins in my cooking!

・Recommended outfits

I think it will go well with anything, whether it's pants or a skirt!
The design is white with just one accent on the chest, so I think it would go well with patterned bottoms!
Try matching it with your favorite outfit!
